An unfamiliar looking 1st XV had their interest in the Warwickshire Shield ended in the 1st Round by an impressive Barkers Butts team who ran out 59-7 winners. A serious shortage of players through non-availability and injury meant that it was very much a shadow team that took the field for OLs but every last one of them put in 100% and kept their side in the game for long periods. An unfortunate knock-on effect is that the 2nd XV had to pull out of their scheduled fixture at Kenilworth as most of them were in the 1sts!

The 1st XV league season gets under way on Saturday (14th September) when they visit Nuneaton Old Edwardians, the 2nd XV hosting the same club at home. The Colts get their league campaign off the ground with a home game against Earlsdon, under the floodlights on Friday evening, ko 7.00pm.
