After the success of last year’s tour, we are pleased to announce that Old Laurentian’s Minis & Juniors U7 – U15, will be taking part in the Sports Tour Rugby Festival in Southport over the May 2020 Bank Holiday.

FESTIVAL DETAILS

The Southport Rugby Festival is played at the private grounds of Southport Rugby Club, which is just

a five-minute drive from the holiday centre. Last season, they had teams from Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England enter the festival. The club has four full size and eight mini pitches (additional pitches available nearby), six changing rooms, new large licensed clubhouse, beer bar and food stalls. Teams will play up to the maximum permitted minutes per day as stipulated by The RFU.

ACCOMODATION

Riverside Holiday Park is a Superior Holiday Park with “High Quality” accommodation in the form of Gold

and Platinum units as well as quality touring & motorhome pitches alongside glamping options . Onsite facilities include an adult only bar, family bar area, children’s lounge and a cafe bar. There is also an indoor pool with sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and children’s play area along with a licenced mini-market where you can purchase groceries, daily newspapers, local produce and souvenirs.

  • Luxury Lodges (Sleeps up to 4 people in 2 bedrooms)
  • Caravans (Sleeps up to 6 people in 2 or 3 bedrooms)
  • Glamping Hives (Sleeps up to 4 people)

Note: Unfortunately, there is no camping option for tents available at this site.

Our luxury lodges provide the best in comfort and the home from home experience. With high class

furnishings and decking surrounding the lodge, making this accommodation the perfect retreat for

those sunny days to lounge on outdoor patio furniture, relax and eat alfresco.

Platinum & Platinum Plus Holiday Homes:

The Platinum& Platinum Plus holiday homes provide comfort and luxury staying in high specification

accommodation. Prior to your arrival, your beds are made for you. Central heating and double glazing

are installed into each holiday home you’re your kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances.

Your holiday home comes complete with a spacious shower and WC. To make your stay more

comfortable we provide you with bath towels and the added extra of an outdoor seating area so you

can enjoy those warm evenings.

Gold Holiday Homes:

Gold standard holiday homes also provide very comfortable accommodation with high specification

fixtures and furnishings including Central heating, double glazing, and your kitchen is fully equipped

with utensils, crockery and cutlery along with a fridge & freezer compartment. There is a spacious

bathroom with modern shower and WC. In the lounge area you will find a 32” flat screen TV. Private

parking is available next to your accommodation.

Glamping Hives:

The ultimate glamping experience - fitted with two sofa beds, sleeping up to 4 people, double glazed

and centrally heated with the added bonus of your own private bathroom and kitchenette consisting

of a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge freezer.

WEEKEND ITINERARY

Friday 08th May

1600 Onwards

Depart from your home town to arrive in resort from 16:00hrs onwards. Facilities in resort will be made available to you should you arrive early.

Check into your accommodation and the rest of the day is at your leisure. Your holiday centre will provide a varied evening entertainment programme.

Evening meal – Self-catering or park restaurant / bar.

Saturday 09th May

(Times TBC)

First of the group games played today. Matches by year group scheduled for either the morning or afternoon session to minimise waiting at the tournament and once your games have finished the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Shuttle buses will be available to take teams to/from the Rugby Club

Evening

Evening meal – Self-catering or park restaurant / bar.

BYO BBQ – to be arranged by individual age group team coaches.

Sunday 10st May

(Times TBC)

Age group games continue, followed by finals (dependent upon age group). Matches by year group scheduled for either the morning or afternoon session to minimise waiting at the tournament and once your games have finished the rest of the day is at your leisure. Shuttle buses will be available to take teams to/from the Rugby Club.

 

After your last match every participant that has taken part in the tournament will receive a souvenir participation award by a famous rugby celebrity.

Evening

 

Evening meal – Self-catering or park restaurant / bar.

Kangaroo Courtto be arranged by individual age group team coaches

Monday 11nd May

Checkout of accommodation and depart for home.

 

TRANSPORTATION

There is limited parking available at the Rugby club, so shuttle buses will be available at £9.95p/p between the Holiday park and Southport RFC. Spaces to be reserved on the booking form. Under 3’s are free of charge.

FANCY DRESS THEME

This will be determined by individual age groups and will be communicated via each age group coordinator.

PAYMENT TERMS

A deposit of £35 per person is required to be paid by Thursday 31st October 2019.

This will be followed up by 4 equal monthly payments (value dependent on accommodation choice) to be paid by:

  • Friday 29th November 2019
  • Tuesday 31st December 2019
  • Friday 31st January 2020

-          Friday 21st February 2020*

* the club needs to pay the full balance by 28th February so final monthly instalment due 1 week before to allow payments to be processed.

Please ensure the correct reference is included on bank transfer payments as detailed on the booking form and advise you age group coordinator when payments are made each month.

At this time the tour organisers do not know the level of interest of female only teams and will let us know the situation as soon as possible.

TOUR KIT

  • All players shall wear:
  • Camouflage tour top available for £28.00 Children & £32.00 Adults (Same as last year)
  • Regular green playing shorts.
  • Tour socks will be provided free of charge to all coaches/players, additional pairs can be bought if required at £7.00 children/£8.00 adults.
  • Optional tour hoodies will be made available for approx. £22.00 - further details to be made available in the New Year.

All tour kit shall be made available from the club shop.

  1. Complete the booking form made available (from your AGC) and send to your age group co-ordinator.
  2. Make your deposit payment (£35p/p) by bank transfer, cash or cheque.

For bank transfer: use the following reference for all payments to allow payments to be tracked: Tour, Family name, Age Group (e.g. Tour U9 McKerlie).

For cheque: Make payable to OLMRFC M&J and write the following reference on the back of the cheque:  Tour, Family name, Age Group (e.g. Tour U9 McKerlie).

  1. All booking forms and deposits must be returned/paid by Thursday 31st

NOTES:

  • If after 31st October there are not enough players registered for a specific age group to enter a team in the festival, deposits will be returned in full and that age group will not go be entered.
  • Non or late payment will lead to your child being omitted from the festival.
